I WATCHED THIS MOVIE LAST NIGHT, IT'S LONG BUT WORTH WATCHING. IT IS VERY SIMILAR TO A FORREST GUMP TYPE MOVIE ONLY MORE UP TO DATE.
KHAN IS A MUSLIM MAN WITH ASPBERGER'S SYNDROME, WHICH IS A TYPE OF AUTISIM, IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND ARE NOT VERY WELL EDUCATED ON THIS SYNDROME OR AUTISIM, IT GIVES A VERY TELLING INSIGHT INTO THE WORLD OF THESE PEOPLE AND WHAT THEY LIVE WITH ON A DAILY BASIS.
THE MOVIE IS MUCH DEEPER THAN KHAN'S SYNDROME, IT IS A STORY OF TRUE LOVE, INTOLERANCE, SOCIAL PROFILING AND MUCH MORE FOLLOWING 9/11.
TO ME IT WAS ENLIGHTENING IN SO MANY WAYS, IT MAKES YOU LAUGH AND IT MAKES YOU CRY.
TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH IT, I'M SURE YOU'LL AGREE IT'S WORTH YOUR TIME.

ENJOY SUNDAY FOR WHAT IT IS MEANT FOR !
SUNDAY'S ARE A DAY TO WORSHIP, RELAX AND ENJOY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
I REMEMBER SUNDAY'S WHEN I WAS A KID, WE WOULD GO TO CHURCH, COME HOME, MY MOTHER WOULD COOK A HUGE LUNCH, THEN WE WOULD EITHER GO VISIT FAMILY AND FRIENDS, OR THEY WOULD COME TO US, WE WOULD NAP,PLAY IN THE YARD OR
JUST SIT AND TALK. IT MADE THE START TO THE WORK WEEK MUCH MORE PLEASANT.
NO WORK WAS DONE ON SUNDAY, THAT WAS FOR MONDAY - SATURDAY. I LOOK BACK AT THOSE DAYS NOW AND REALIZE, LIFE WAS SO MUCH SIMPLER, LESS STRESSFUL AND HECTIC, AND I MUST ADMIT I MISS IT.
SO TAKE TODAY AND ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT WAS MEANT FOR, WORSHIP, VISIT, NAP OR PLAY, BUT ENJOY IT, THAT'S WHY GOD MADE TODAY AN OFFICIAL WEEKLY HOLIDAY !

'Good friends are like stars..... .....You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.'
THIS WAS SENT TO ME FROM ONE OF MY DEAREST FRIENDS THROUGH EMAIL AND I JUST HAD TO PASS IT ON
The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.
I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.
She said, 'Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?'
I laughed and enthusiastically responded, 'Of course you may!' and she gave me a giant squeeze..
'Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?' I asked.
She jokingly replied, 'I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids...'
'No seriously,' I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.
'I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!' she told me.
After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.
We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this 'time machine' as she shared her wisdom and experience with me..
Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.
At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.
Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, 'I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.'
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, ' We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.
There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.
We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!
There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.
If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.
Anybody! Can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.
The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets..'
She concluded her speech by courageously singing 'The Rose.'
She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those months ago.
One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.
Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

TODAY, UNFORTUNATELY, THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE HAVING TO ASK THEMSELVES THIS QUESTION, WHETHER IT BE FROM THE ECONOMY, LOSS OF A JOB, LOSS OF A LOVED ONE, OR A SUDDEN ILLNESS OR INJURY, BUT EVEN THEN, IT'S NOT AN EASY QUESTION TO FIND THE ANSWER TO.

IS THIS REALLY JUSTICE? YOU DECIDE !

IN OCTOBER OF LAST YEAR A TRAGIC WRECK TOOK THE LIVES OF 2 YOUNG PEOPLE, THE FACTS AS STATED ARE:
1. THE DRIVER THAT KILLED THE TEENS WAS AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT
2. THEY WERE SITTING AT A REDLIGHT WHILE ON A DATE, MINDING THEIR OWN BUSINESS
3. THE ILLEGAL WAS INTOXICATED AT 3 TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT
4. HE WAS RUNNING FROM THE POLICE

I LOVE DOGS, BUT THIS IS A BIT MUCH !
I love animals, all kinds of animals, dogs, cats, zebras, monkeys, polar bears, you name it, I love em, except snakes, which we have already made clear I don't consider animals. Anyway, I have 3 dogs, each of my son's have dogs, we have quite a menagerie of them, and we all consider them part of the family, they go on vacations with us, to the store, to visit others, play dates, they go where we go.
I have rescued a lot of animals over the years from shelters, puppy mills, craigs list you name it if I go to look and it appears to be a puppy mill, I will buy 5 or 6 dogs and find them good homes, we found a beautiful little pit bull on craigs list that was being sold out of a hotel, they had already sold 14 for fighting dogs, or warm up dogs as these younger pups are called, she was kept locked in a small bathroom, she was sweet but she was eaten up with worms, stunk to high heaven, and grossly underweight, but I was not going to let her be killed for sport, so we paid for her, brought her home with the intentions of finding her a good home, and alas, we did, my house with my son until he moved out and took her with him. She grew into a beautiful dog, 65 lbs and her best friend was, and still is a 4.5 lb Chihuaha, they play, it is the funniest thing ever. She has the sweetest disposition ever, which just goes to prove any breed can be a great family pet if it is treated with respect, dignity and a whole lotta love.
I Cannot stand anyone who in anyway condones animal cruelty, abuse or neglect ! This being said I had adopted a grown female Dachsaund from a puppy mill, she was to be euthanized for not breeding, so I bought her brought her home, kept her a while and then found her a good home, with some elderly ladies who had lost their Dachsaund to old age. I thought what a perfect mix, but when I went to check on her, it was like walking straight into Grey's Garden, the movie, I cannot even describe this place, but the ladies just loved her, so I was satisfied, which brings me to the rest of the story, and I swear it is the truth, nobody could make this up.
I stopped at the store today and the girl who helped me place the dog with these ladies stopped me and said, Oh my God, do I have a story for you. "Your doggy is doing great, they could'nt love her more, they were in here yesterday, I asked about her and they said she was at home with her new friend"
I asked " Oh, did you get another dog"? The reply, and this is the God's honest truth, was " Oh no, we got our DEAD DOG back Friday", huh? uh, excuse me ? We had our dog freeze dried when she died and we just got her back, so she is laying on her pillow IN the living room, she looks so life like, we also went and got one of those little plaster things they use in kindergarten for handprints and made prints of her paws and put it on the table by her bed. Our new doggy just loves her, she lays on the bed with her and they SLEEP together, so now everyone is home and happy.
My friend said the first thing she did was call her landlord, cause she thought of her, because she had taught her Dog to READ, yes, READ ! Now I'm no teacher, but how the hell do you know if a dog can read, do you find it with a book by the fire reading ?
I thought, good Lord you know some strange pet owners. All I could do through this whole one sided conversation was stand there with my mouth hanging wide open, I mean, really, you can freeze dry a dog ?
Won't it thaw ? What happens when the new dog decides to try and play with it ? Is it like freeze dried coffee, will it dissolve in water?
Anyway, I love my dogs, consider them little people, but I think I would find it just a bit creepy to have one of my dogs laying on its bed in my living room for all of eternity, but thats just me.
If you want to adopt a dog or cat, please visit one of your local shelters to see their beautiful animals,or volunteer your time, take a bag of dog food or a large box of treats once a month to donate, if you see what you believe to be a puppy mill or dog fighting place, PLEASE contact your local animal control, even if your wrong it is so much better to be safe than sorry. If you feel like giving monetarily they all accept donations or you can donate to the ASPCA at http://www.aspca.org/ a little bit goes a long way. Please spay or neuter your pet.

I STILL LOVE NEW ORLEANS
I STILL LOVE NEW ORLEANS, IN SPITE OF KATRINA, ALL THE NEGATIVE PUBLICITY AFTERWARD AND THE OIL SPILL, YOU JUST CAN'T GET A GREAT LADY DOWN !
I have been to New Orleans since Katrina, I must admit driving into town, I was more than just a little shocked at the devastation, I was there 2 weeks after for business and have been back several times since then and unfortunately, it seems the rebuilding of certain parts are a slow to no go, but for the most part she is like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes back to greatness.
Whenever we go on a cruise, which I love, if we leave from New Orleans we go a coupla days ahead of time so we can eat, drink, gamble, walk, shop, you name it they got it.
NOLA has hotels to fit everybody's budget and taste, from new and modern to a trip back in time. The older hotels, mostly located within the French Quarter have been updated, but haven't lost their French, Spainish, Creole ambiance. The newer hotels are wonderful if you want more modern accomodations. We have tried both and loved both.
I love the laid back style of this city, you can do whatever you like at whatever pace you please. I love going to the French Market, wandering down Bourbon Street, shopping on Magazine St. or Royal St., I have found some of the most unusual gifts for others in New Orleans, and they love em !
Eating in New Orleans is like a vacation unto itself, all you have to do is walk, look, smell and EAT ! There are over 600 restaurants in NOLA, and all are superb.
You can game in New Orleans too, if you have money to spare, or if your in luck, you can go see the Saints in their newly renovated stadium
Jackson Square is awesome, it has shops that are to die for, local artists with some of the most beautiful paintings you have ever seen, I have bought several, and restaurants.
Take your walking shoes, climb on the streetcar's, jump in a horse and buggy whatever, because there is never a lack of things to do no matter your mode of transportation.
If your into nightlife, head for Bourbon, and no matter what the news tell you, I have never been accosted on Bourbon or anywhere else in New Orleans for that matter, it is like any other city in the world, you always have to be careful and aware of your location, but it is no more dangerous, in my opinion than any place else.
Back to the nightlife, or daylife whichever, Bourbon has both, but be aware that some parts are a little to risque if you have kids with you. At night, they block Bourbon Street so you can walk, drink, dance and enjoy the night air all while feeling a freedom and revelery you can feel no where else.
I have been taking my kids since they were young, my husband and I go now by ourselves and everytime we go, it's like going to a whole new place ! I highly recommend the cemetary tours, as well as other tours that are available for all price ranges as well as age groups.
So whether you are a partier, shopper, eater, gambler, sports fan, old, young, in between or just looking for a great get away I would whole heartedly recommend NEW ORLEANS, LA !!

WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE FOR DUMMIES
First of all, lets fast forward to the present day, it is now 12 days short of the 1 year anniversary of my accident. I saw 5 Dr.'s, 3 Physical Therapists and took countless tests for whatever reason, I received 7 different diagnosis, all for the same problem mind you, but the end result is still the same, I hurt 24/7, some days much worse than others, as I have told people when it gets really painful and they ask what happened, my reply is "Life just pisses it off"
Now, about Workers Comp Insurance, please don't feel all warm and fuzzy about your employer having this type of coverage, I HAVE FOUND IT IS THERE TO PROTECT THE EMPLOYER NOT YOU !!!!
If you are injured on the job, you are only allowed to see Dr.s who accept workers comp and that have been chosen by your carrier, and believe me not all do, since they have to treat you at a discounted rate it is highly unlikely that your personal physician accepts it.
Unfortunately, in my opinion the care you receive by W/C physicians is at best like going to a discount store where you get the basics for the least price, nobody waits on you or truly asks if they can help you find something, you have to ask them, and even then you only get a discounted answer.
Moving on to being out of work, now W/C will pay you, but heres the catch, states have mandated how much they can pay you, so don't think you will make what you can make working, example if you make $100k in the State of Alabama, W/C law states you can only receive $728 per week for 335 weeks on permanent partial disability, and if you are permanently disabled you will receive $229 weekly for life, all states are different, and I understand the cost of living in AL is low, but seriously, who can live on $229 a week?And to boot, you can't get a job elsewhere to supplement, because remember you are totally disabled now !
Now once these W/C Dr.s have pronounced their final MMI (maximum medical improvement) on you, for better or worse, that's it ! No 3rd or 4th opinions, no still going to different Dr.s until you are healed, but boom the law has spoken and this is where you stand!
You cant really sue them either,you can but it will more than likely be nominal, because again, the states have limits on how much you can receive for a lifetime of pain and suffering plus the inability to work.
Nobody expects, or so I hope to win the lottery being injured on the job, but whether through your fault or the fault of others, & by the way,if it is through the fault of others, whenyou receive a settlement from the 3rd party, workers comp gets paid back everything they spent on you out of your money, right off the top unless they are willing to release their liens on your money.
Unfortunately, 100's of people are injured every day on the job, if you are I hope that unlike me, you don't end up with a permanent disability, you can return to work and make a living to feed your family, but if you run up against some of the hurdles I have mentioned, do your research on your states laws and if you can get no satisfaction, find a good attorney who specializes in W/C law.

Needle Hell and Beyond
Ok, so we get to the ER, right, it is the middle of swine flu season, so all these people are sitting there coughing, hacking, wearing masks, and I'm thinkin "Great the wreck didnt kill me, so now the pig flu gets a shot at me".
They came and got me took me to Xray, sat me back in the middle of the pig flu epidemic, and there I sat for the next 2 hours, people watching, you would be amazed how entertaining an ER waiting room can be !
They finally put me in a room, nurse comes to Xray me again, I tell her already been done, she leaves, another hour passes, another nurse comes to xray me, "already been done" she leaves, another hour passes, by then I am getting really sore, there are bruises coming up all over the left side of my body, I have bruises comin up across my pelvis and chest, and right in the hairline of my head, so now I also have a headache, and guess what? another nurse to xray me ! By now I'm gettin ill with the whole process, and I tell B to go tell em I'm leaving, I'll go to my Dr tomorrow, a nurse comes in and says the Dr. will be here shortly, but we need to, and you guessed it, get you Xrayed ! Oh my dear God in heaven, and these people are supposed to make me feel better, SERIOUSLY, ARE U KIDDIN ME? THEY cant even figure out they have tried to xray me 5 times already, if attempts count I would set off a geiger counter and glow in the friggin dark by now!
Dr. shows, checks me out, says I am gonna be really sore for a while and that I need to go to my regular Dr.on Monday, so I'm like fine, now can I go, by now I hurt so bad from waiting to be seen I just wanted to go home, he gives me Rx's and in comes a different nurse wanting to give me a shot, I was like "sorry dude, but I am not taking any shots, its against my religion and besides ya'll were'nt even sure if I needed to be xrayed 5 times, so uh uh !
If you are ever injured in anyway, go by ambulance, you get done so much faster and maybe they won't try and turn into a walking Chernobyl !
Anyway, after all this everything goes totally haywire, I find out I am on Workers Comp, cause I was working, the auto insurance people are calling, from every direction, I can barely get around between takin the steroids, pain meds and pain, I am pretty much couch bound and all these insurance people are tryin to get answers outta me.
I've already seen 2 docs, talked with 4 insurance people and its only been 4 days since the accident, so I figure ya know what, I wanta be left alone for a little while til I am not in a fog,so I can think straight, I received papers from insurance companies to fill out, and my advice to anyone really hurt in an accident, be very careful what you sign while you are still in pain and on meds, or you can royally screw yourself ! Luckily I didnt sign and when I was thinkin straight a month later, still had not seen a specialist and was not able to work, get around or think straight, I hired an attorney.
Next post will be about the trials and tribulations you suffer with Dr's, Insurance, Physical Therapy, Work, basically the whole gamut when you can do nothing but be at everyone elses mercy for something you did not cause! Good life lesson for a lot of people I bet !

THE BEGINNING OF THE END !!!
OK, so quite a few of my family and friends think I should elaborate on why I went from being so successful selling building materials, making 6 figures to sit home most of the time and now blog. Now before you think, well good Lord your family doesnt know, Yes, they know but they also know nobody else really does.
So here it goes, and please before you read this, DO NOT THINK I WANT SYMPATHY, I don't ,this is just the hand I've been dealt.
Ok, anyway, enough with the disclaimer, last September 10, 2010 I was working, which involves driving around all day and making friends, (kinda sounds like facebook without the car huh) anyway, I had just left one of my builders and was heading to another's office. While I was sitting at the red light waiting to turn on a 4 lane hwy, I looked up and saw a pickup coming straight at my drivers door, and he was accelerating, I'm sittin there lookin at him, like it was in slow motion and I'm thinkin "surely hes gonna stop", but instead I could tell he was accelerating and then boom, he hit me right in the drivers door ! I sat there a minute and he just kept staring at me, then he started to back up, I started slamming my body against my door trying to get it open, and then I noticed he put it in drive and started back at me AGAIN, all I could think, and this is the God's honest truth was "Do I know you"? then I cant really tell you what happened I was so busy trying to get the door open, whether he hit me again is a mystery, from the looks of the bruises the next day, the pain that night and ever since, something sure as hell did !
Anyway, called 911, ambulance, police, fire the whole shootin match shows up, kinda embarassing actually with all the lights and attention, but anyway, they start talkin to the man who hit me and he starts having some type of seizure, after they get him sat back down, they came to talk to me, and to be honest, I had been so shaken up and I guess adrenalized (if thats a word) that until I got out of my truck and starting walking around, I didnt even really know I was hurt. But when I turned to get my license outta my truck, WOW it felt like somebody stuck a red hot poker through the joint of my hip, well, here comes the paramedic, telling me you have to go to the hospital, my husband had arrived by then and he was like YEAH YEAH you have to go ! One thing you need to know about me, I don't like Dr.s, hospitals or anybody else in possession of needles, my philosophy is "If you cant get in a hole God made, then you don't get it in", but that never seems to work with the Medical Community.
Anyway, they loaded me in the ambulance, after a lot of fussin by me, and I was strapped on that horrible little gurney thing, the paramedics were so nice and professional, but I still didnt like it, so about the time they are getting ready to haul to needle hell, a medic runs over and says the man who hit me has stopped breathing, and is convulvsing, so I'm like "let me outta here and take that poor man to the hospital", they were going Oh nono you really need to go to, I said I can get there myself, besides, and this is just my opinion, but I hold it in high regards that stopping breathing and convulsing always trumps a hurt hip!
So off they went with the man, my husband and I left in the cars and went to the hospital.
In my next post I will fill you in on the hospital visit, no needles, but a WHOLE Lotta CraZiness goin on there!

Well here we sit
First of all, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been a successful building material salesperson for several years with a nationwide firm, I love to travel, I raised 3 boys into fine men as a single mom, I love animals of any type, except snakes and their really not animals anyway in my opinion. I was adopted when I was only 4 months old, my adopted mother died 4 years ago of alzheimers, I still take care of my elderly adopted father, I have a 2 year old granddaughter, I am married to a wonderful man, this only after several attempts with not so wonderful men.
I used to make 6 figures in the housing industry, but I was injured in a no fault wreck while working and that is why I now am trying to write a blog. I hope my blog will let people out there know they are not the only ones suffering, whether through the economy or like so many, such as myself, living financially in the moment, and then the moment ends, and here we sit.
The unfortunate part of being injured on the job is I have found out the hard way, Workers Compensation Insurance if there to protect the employer, not the employee, they will fight you tooth and nail to keep from having to pay, so will the big insurance companies, even if their client is the one at fault. Your creditors dont go away, and Workers Comp nor auto insurance carriers really care, your problem not theirs.
SO AS YOU CAN SEE BY MY LIFE, AND THIS ISNT THE 1/2 OF IT NOTHINS OUTTA BOUNDS WITH ME !!!!!!
